Releasing the Parking Brake
1. Push forward and down on the parking brake lever to
release the parking brake (Fig. 2). The parking brake is
"DISENGAGED" and the lever rests against the brake
stop.

Starting
Note: This machine does not have a manual choke. This
machine is equipped with a electronic fuel injection (EFI)
system.
1. Sit on the seat and move the motion controls to neutral
locked position.
2. Set the parking brake; refer to Setting the Parking
Brake, page 19.
3. Move the PTO (power take off) switch to "OFF"
(Fig. 3).
4. Move the throttle control midway between the slow
and fast positions.
5. Turn ignition key to "START". When engines starts,
release key.
Important
Do not engage starter for more than 10
seconds at a time. If engine fails to start allow 60 second
cool-down period between attempts. Failure to follow
these instructions can burn out starter motor.

Stopping
1. Turn the ignition key to "OFF" (Fig. 5).
Note: If the engine has been working hard or is hot, let it
idle for a minute before turning the ignition key "OFF."
This helps cool the engine before it is stopped. In an
emergency, the engine may be stopped by turning the
ignition key to "OFF."
2. Pull wire off spark plug(s) to prevent possibility of
someone accidentally starting the machine before
transporting or storing machine.
3. Close fuel shut off valve, on front panel before
transporting or storing machine.
Important
Make sure fuel shut-off valve is closed
before transporting or storing machine, as fuel leakage
may occur. Set parking brake before transporting.
