Your vehicle cannot be locked using the remote key if
the key is in the ignition and the ignition is ON.
The vehicle also cannot be locked if the driver's door
is open.
To use the remote key to lock the doors, both doors must
be closed. If only the passenger's door is open when the
lock button is pressed, the driver's door will lock but the
passenger's door will not. The horn will honk three times
to indicate that the passenger's door has not locked.
The passenger's door must be closed and the system
must be reset in order to lock both doors. To reset the
system, press the unlock button and then press the lock
button on the remote key.

CAUTION:
{
It can be dangerous to drive with the trunk lid
open because carbon monoxide (CO) gas can
come into your vehicle. You cannot see or
smell CO. It can cause unconsciousness and
even death. If you must drive with the trunk lid
open or if electrical wiring or other cable
connections must pass through the seal
between the body and the trunk lid:
Make sure all other windows are shut.
Turn the fan on your heating or cooling
system to its highest speed and select the
control setting that will force outside air
into your vehicle. See Climate Control
System in the Index.
If you have air outlets on or under the
instrument panel, open them all the way.
See Engine Exhaust on page 2-26.
