A heat pump is a device for
transferring energy in the form
of useful heat from one place to
another. It cannot store, make
or destroy heat energy – it
simply moves it. It works like
your refrigerator; only in
reverse. It takes the heat from
the surrounding air, compresses
it, and transfers it into the water
stored in the tank. By-products
of this heat pump are cold air
and condensation.
