Overview

The VSH-1000 Media Unit is designed to record audio
and video data that have been subjected to MPEG-2
compression and encoding, and store them as video
clips. Together with the VSR-1000 Media Control

Features

Enables setting up of a high capacity
video server system
A maximum of six HDD (hard disk drive) Units
(BKSH-102GA, etc.) can be installed in one VSH-
1000 Media Unit. Furthermore, a maximum of seven
VSH-1000s can be connected in a daisy chain
arrangement with one VSR-1000 unit via a SCSI
interface. This maximum capacity system has the
storage capacity for a total of 30 hours (when BKSH-
102GA is installed) and 60 hours (when BKSH-104G
is installed) of MPEG-2 video clips (at a data rate of 5
Mbps).
Long recording capability
The length of a single video clip which can be
recorded and stored in a single VSH-1000 unit is up to
4 hours 20 minutes/8 hours 40 minutes (at a data rate
of 5 Mbps) with a maximum of six BKSH-102GA/
104G units installed in the VSH-1000 unit.
Auto-recovery of data
Hard disk drives are arranged in the RAID-3 system.
With this setup, if one drive breaks down, it can be
replaced with a new drive without causing an
interruption to system operation. Data is recovered

Power unit and cooling fans can be
replaced during system operation
The unit is equipped with two power units and four
sets of cooling fans. Should one of the power units or
cooling fans fail, it can be replaced with a new one
without causing an interruption to system operation.
The VSR-1000 Media Control Unit is notified
automatically in the event of a power unit or cooling
fan failure.
Mountable in 19-inch standard rack
The unit can be mounted in an EIA standard 19-inch
rack (4 units high).
