4. CHEF'S TIPS AND HINTS

• Freshly ground coffee guarantees a tastier coffee because it develops
more of its flavours while brewing.
• For an exotic and fragrant coffee, add powdered cinnamon, vanilla,
cardamom or star anis, for example, to the coffee grains.
• Coffee should not be reheated. Its taste will change and it will lose
some of its aromas.

The carafe and/or the filter basket
are not properly positioned.
Don't forget to put the lid on the
coffee grinder
.
Check that the unit is properly
engaged and that it is well
connected to the electrical supply.
Check that the grinder grate is
clean and dry.
Check whether the unit needs
descaling.

6. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

• Allow the unit to cool completely and unplug it before cleaning. Use
a sponge dampened with soapy water to clean the outside of the
coffeemaker, then dry carefully.
• Open the reservoir cover and the filter compartment. Remove the
coffee grinder lid, the grinder, the filter basket, its cover and the
support.
• Wash the pieces along with the measure, the carafe and its lid in
warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly and dry. Then replace them in
the unit.
• All these pieces are also dishwasher safe.
• Never pour water into the unit when the grinder is not in place.
• Wipe the part under the filter basket and the heater plate with a
damp cloth.
• Do not wipe the inside of the reservoir as this may leave fabric or
paper residue.
• Do not use abrasive sponges or cleaning agents as these could
damage the finish.
• NEVER IMMERSE THE BASE OF THE UNIT IN WATER OR ANY OTHER
LIQUID.
NOTE: The reservoir cover may also be removed to facilitate cleaning.
DESCALING
Over time and through normal use, lime deposits will build up.
Scale can interfere with the fine mechanics and give the coffee a
harsh, bitter taste. For this reason, your coffeemaker should be descaled
regularly to guarantee good coffee. The frequency of descaling depends
on how hard the water is and how frequently you use the coffeemaker.
To descale, dilute 30cl white vinegar in 30cl water, pour the mixture
into the reservoir and begin a brew cycle.
Then run two full cycles by filling the reservoir with water (but no
coffee) to rinse the system.

7. SAFETY CAUTIONS

• Always use cild water to prepare coffee. A too hot water will irreparably
put your appliance out of use.
• Never touch the heater plate.
• Never wind the cord up the appliance.
Do not let the cord hang over the work surface, and do not let it
touch hot surfaces.
• Do not put the apliance next to or on hot surfaces.
