RedBoot Commands

This section details the commands available in RedBoot.

Common Commands

The general format of commands is:
command <options, parameters>
Numbers, such as a memory location, may be specified in either decimal or hexadecimal
(requires a 0x prefix).
ping

ping [-v] [-n <count>] [-l <length>] [-t <timeouts>] [-r <rate>][-i
<IP_addr>] -h IP_addr
DESCRIPTION
The
command checks the connectivity of the local network by sending special (ICMP)
ping
packets to a specific host. These packets should be automatically returned by that host. The
command will indicate how many of these round-trips were successfully completed.
Note: Make sure an ethernet interface is configured before using

Arguments

Be verbose, displaying information about each packet sent.
-v
-n <count>
-t <timeout>
Default is 1000ms (1 second).
-r <rate>
1000ms (1 second). Specifying "
-l <length>
length of that data. The default is 64 and the value is restricted to the range 64 .. 1400.
-i <local IP>
this is not recommended procedure, it can help diagnose some situations, for example where
BOOTP is not working properly.
-h <host IP>

Controls the number of packets to be sent. Default is 10 if -n is not specified.
