Connecting an A/V receiver

This connection allows you to use an A/V (audio/video) receiver to
enhance your TV's sound.
This connection also allows you to ouput the sound of the PIP
program to external speakers, so you can use the A/V receiver to
switch between hearing the main picture sound and the PIP picture
sound.
Note: If the PIP window is not open, the PIP AUDIO OUT terminals
will not output a signal. For details about PIP, see page 29.
If you have a system with Dolby Pro Logic* surround sound, you can
add to the realism of the sound by using the TV speakers as center
channel speakers.
You will need:
• one set of standard A/V cables
• one single standard audio cable for the Audio Center Channel

Caution:
To avoid damaging the speakers:
• Turn off the TV before connecting or
disconnecting the AUDIO CENTER
CHANNEL cable.
• Do not connect from the A/V receiver's
CENTER SPEAKER OUT terminal
(amplified signal) to the TV's AUDIO
CENTER CHANNEL IN terminal.
Note:
• Refer to the instructions provided with your
A/V receiver for details about your
surround sound system.
• To adjust the volume of the center channel
speakers, use the center level control on
your A/V receiver.
• The TV's volume buttons will not control
CENTER CHANNEL input; however, the
MUTE function will mute CENTER
CHANNEL input.
• To use the TV speakers as normal
speakers, set the AUDIO CENTER
CHANNEL ON/OFF switch to the OFF
position.
