Install Multiple Disc Changers in a Control4
System
When installing multiple Sony disc changers in a Control4 system, follow these
guidelines:
Set up multiple disc changers as supported for the Control4 controller.
Media Controller supports four disc changers. Home Theater Controller
supports one disc changer and therefore does not support the use of
the multiple disc changers.
Use the provided serial ports, cable, and "Installation" instructions to con-
nect the Sony disc changer directly to the Media Controller serial ports. The
Media Controller has a total of four serial ports, including two DB9 connec-
tor ports and two pluggable terminal block ports.
The Sony disc changers must be connected directly to the Control4 control-
ler. No daisy chain connections are supported.
If using a Sony controller product that controls multiple Sony disc changers
or other Sony equipment, connect the Sony controller product directly to
the Control4 controller and the other disc changers and set up as directed
by Sony Corporation.
Configure the Sony Disc Changer within the
Control4 System
Use Composer software (Professional Edition) to configure the Sony DVP-
CX777ES 400 Disc Changer within the Control4 system. Refer to the
Composer User Guide for more details.
Set Up Media and Create Playlists
Use Composer software (Media Edition, Home Edition, or the
within the Professional Edition) to scan media or create playlists on the
Control4 system.
Once the disc changer is configured within the Control4 system, you can
perform a scan to identify the DVDs, CDs or SACDs that are in the disc
changer. This is easily accomplished in both versions of Composer in the
view by highlighting
Media
Disc Changer
automatically updates the navigation devices to provide cover art that you can
view to choose what DVDs, CDs, or SACDs to play.
An autoscan feature allows you to slip in a new DVD, CD, or SACD into an
empty slot of the disc changer, which then automatically scans and identifies it
to the Control4 system. This automatically updates the navigation devices to
provide cover art information to select entertainment options.
For more information, see the Composer online help topic: "Set up Media and
Create Playlists."
