Function of the post-collision brake
Depending on the accident situation, the post-
collision brake can minimize the severity of a fur‐
ther collision or even avoid it.
If an accident is detected, the post-collision
brake can implement automatic braking. When
the vehicle has come to a standstill, the electric
parking brake is automatically applied.
The driver can cancel automatic braking by tak‐
ing the following actions:
Braking more strongly than automatic brak‐

Fully depressing the accelerator pedal with

nize potential risks and avoid dangers if chil‐

Be diligent
Bear in mind that negligence when securing the
child in the child restraint system may have seri‐
ous consequences. Always be diligent in secur‐
ing a child carefully before every journey.
To improve protection for children younger than
twelve years old or under 5 ft (1.50 m) in height,
Mercedes-Benz recommends you observe the
following information:
Always secure the child in a child restraint

system suitable for this Mercedes-Benz vehi‐
cle.
The child restraint system must be appropri‐
R
ate to the age, weight and size of the child.
The vehicle seat must be suitable for instal‐
R
ling a child restraint system.
Accident statistics show that children secured
on the rear seats are generally safer than chil‐
dren secured on the front seats. For this reason,
Mercedes-Benz strongly advises that you install
a child restraint system on a rear seat.
The generic term child restraint system
The generic term child restraint system is used
in this Operator's Manual. A child restraint sys‐
tem is, for example:
a baby car seat

a rearward-facing child seat
R
a forward-facing child seat
R
a child booster seat with a backrest and seat
R
belt guide
Mercedes-Benz recommends using a child
booster seat with a backrest.
The child restraint system must be appropriate
to the age, weight and size of the child.
