M ID I

M ID I i s an acronym t hat st ands for M usi cal Inst rum ent D i gi t al Int erface,

ot her, by sendi ng and recei vi ng M ID I m essages.
O n t he ri ght undersi de of t he E l ect one keyboard you w i l l fi nd t he M ID I
IN /O U T jacks and T O H O ST term inal. If your E lectone is connected
w ith external devices via these M ID I jacks (w ith a personal com puter
vi a t he T O H O ST t erm i nal ) and appropri at e M ID I set t i ngs are done, you
can pl ay an ext ernal M ID I devi ce such as synt hesi zer from your E l ect one
keyboard or your E l ect one can be pl ayed by an ext ernal devi ce such as
sequencer (by a personal com put er w i t h a sequenci ng soft w are i nst al l ed).
T o connect your E lectone w ith an external M ID I device you need to
prepare a pair of M ID I cables (or a serial cable w hen you connect the
E l ect one w i t h a personal com put er vi a t he T O H O ST t erm i nal ).
A l so, t o exchange t he dat a bet w een your E l ect one and connect ed M ID I
device you have to m atch the M ID I transm it/receive channels on both
devi ces. See page 158 for t he det ai l ed i nform at i on about t he M ID I channel
settings.

com put er). In t hi s case you need t o sel ect one of t he H O ST SELEC T
sw i t ches t o m at ch t he com put er t ype you use.
