Disc handling precautions

Discs w hich can be played w ith this unit
Cleaning
Do not use volatile solvents such as alcohol, paint thinner, gasoline,
or benzine, etc. to clean the cabinet. Use a clean dry cloth.
Do not use contact cleaners because it could cause a malfunction.
Be specially careful against contact cleaners containing oil, for they
may deform the plastic components.
CD accessories
The CD accessories (stabilizer, protection sheet, protection ring, etc.)
w hich are marketed for improving the sound quality or protecting discs
as w ell as the disc cleaner should not be used w ith this system be-
cause they may cause malfunction.
Bew are of condensation
When w ater vapor comes into contact w ith the surface of cold mate-
rial, w ater drops are produced. If condensation occurs, correct opera-
tion may not be possible, or the unit may not function correctly.
This is not a malfunction, how ever, the unit should be dried. (To do
this, turn the unit ON and leave the unit as it is for several hours.)

Handling
Hold compact discs so that you do not
touch the playing surface.
÷ Do not attach paper or tape to either
the playing side or the label side of
compact discs.
÷ The paste left on the label surface after
a sticker has been peeled off is a factor
w hich may cause malfunction. If the
surface is sticky due to remaining paste,
be sure to clean it w ith alcohole before
use.
Cleaning
If fingerprints or foreign matter become
attached to the disc, lightly w ipe the
disc w ith a soft cotton cloth (or similar)
from the center of the disc outw ards
in a radial manner.
Storage
When a disc is not to be played for a
long period of time, remove it from the
CD player and store it in its case.
Never play a cracked or w arped disc.
During playback, the disc rotates at high speed in the player.
Therefore, to avoid danger, never use a cracked or deformed disc or a
disc repaired w ith tape or adhesive agent.
Do not use cleaning discs.
Please do not use commercially available cleaning discs, they may dam-
age the internal mechanism.
CD (12 cm, 8 cm) (CD-TEXT support), CDV (only the audio
part)
÷ With CD-G (CD Graphics) discs, this unit can play only the audio.
÷ Please do not use discs w hich are not round because they may cause
a malfunction.
Note related to transportation and movement
Before transporting or moving this unit, carry out the follow ing
operations.
1. Turn the unit ON but do not load a disc.
2. Verify that the display show n appears.

3. Wait a few seconds and set the unit to STANDBY mode.
Be especially careful in the follow ing conditions:
÷ When the unit is brought from a cold place to a w arm place, and there
is a large temperature difference.
÷ When a heater starts operating.
÷ When the unit is brought from an air - conditioned place to a place of
high temperature w ith high humidity.
÷ When there is a large difference betw een the internal temperature of
the unit and the ambient temperature, or in conditions w here
condensation occurs easily.
