Airbag On-Off Switch

The front passenger airbag system
has to be deactivated if a child
restraint system is to be fitted on
this seat. The side airbag and
curtain airbag systems, the belt
pretensioners and all driver airbag
systems will remain active.
The front passenger air bag system
can be deactivated via a key
operated switch on the right side of
the instrument panel.
Use the ignition key to choose the
position:
To turn off the front passenger
airbag, insert ignition key into the
switch, push in, and move the
switch to the OFF position. The front
passenger airbag is deactivated and
will not inflate in the event of a
collision.
When the front passenger airbag is
turned off, the control indicator OFF
illuminates continuously near the
courtesy light switch. No adult
person is allowed to occupy the
front passenger seat.

To turn the front passenger airbag
on again, insert ignition key into the
switch, push in, and move the
switch to the ON position.
The front passenger airbag is now
enabled (may inflate). When the
front passenger airbag is turned on,
the control indicator ON illuminates
continuously in the centre console
to let you know the airbag is on.
A child restraint system must not be
installed.
Danger
Risk of fatal injury for a child
using a child restraint system on
a seat with activated front
passenger airbag.
Risk of fatal injury for an adult
person on a seat with deactivated
front passenger airbag.
Always comply with local or national
regulations. In some countries, the
use of child restraint systems is
forbidden on certain seats.
