XX. Setting and Testing
A. General Information
1.
Before putting the reconditioned valve in service, it must
be set to open at the required set pressure. Although
the valve can be set on the service installation, it is more
convenient to set the valve and check seat tightness on a
test stand.
2.
Test Equipment: The test stand used for testing POSRVs
normally consists of a pressure source supply line with
a throttle valve and receiver that have the following
features:
a. Outlet for attaching the valve to be tested on steam
b. Pressure gauge with a shutoff valve
c. Drain line with a shutoff valve
d. Adequate receiver volume for the valve to be tested
and to achieve proper operation
3.
Test Media: Valves shall be tested on steam.
4.
Pretesting: It is recommended that the pilot valve be
tested prior to installation on the main valve.
B. With Standard Options
Note: Seal all pipe threads with a non-organic sealant or Teflon
tape.
1.
Attach pilot to main valve using two Socket Head Cap
