Installation

Intended use
The manual call points FDM233 and FDM234 are used for
manually activating alarms in the event of a fire.
They consist of a housing FDMH294-R and a switching unit
FDME233 (for indirect activation) or a switching unit
FDME234 (for direct activation).
Self-adhesive stickers (7) can be supplied as accessories.
Preparation
Depending on the cabling (surface-mounted cable entry or
recess-mounted cable entry), the housing must be prepared
for cable entry.
1.
Push the keyhole cover to the side (1).
2.
Open the door with the key supplied (2).
3.
Remove the key and keep it in a safe place.
4.
Remove the switching unit by pressing the latch (3) down
and folding out the switching unit (arrows).
5.
Determine the cable entry opening(s) in the housing.

For recess-mounted cable entry, break out the lower or
upper cable entry (6).

For surface-mounted cable entry, use the upper or lower
cable entry (4) and cut out the opening.
Installation
WARNING
Inoperative manual call point
Alarming does not take place.
Do not open the switching unit. Assembling the
switching unit incorrectly renders it inoperative.
1.
Secure the housing at a height of 0.9...1.6 m on an even
surface.
2. Use only the two screw holes (5).
Observe the country-specific regulations for the exact
installation height!
3.
Pull the cables through the entry opening(s) into the
housing.
Attaching the self-adhesive sticker
Only use the self-adhesive sticker if local regulations
require the manual call point to be labeled in this
way.
Clean the surface of the door where the sticker is to be
applied and attach the self-adhesive sticker (7) to the door.

Connecting the switching unit to the electricity
CAUTION
Electrical voltage on lines
Risk of injury due to electric shock
During installation work, electrical voltage must
not be applied to the lines.
1.
When inserting the switching unit into the housing, note the
feed line. Avoid crushing the feed line.
2.
Insert the switching unit at the top under the two holders
and into the housing, and push it down (in the direction of
the arrow) into the latch (3).

You will hear the switching unit latch into place.
3.
Connect the feed line to the spring clips (8) in the switching
unit, in accordance with the connection diagram (9).
4.
If the detector line cables (LINE) are shielded, connect the
detector line (LINE) shielding to the connections (SHIELD).
5.
Connect the shielding of the external alarm indicator cable
with the positive pole of the external alarm indicator
connection.
Note the positive and negative poles.
Only connect one wire per terminal. This is the only
way to ensure the connection is failure-free for the
entire service life of the device.
The shielding must not touch any other potentials or
metal parts in the manual call point.
6.
Stow any spare wires or cores in the housing at the right-
hand side, under the cable holder (10).
WARNING
Deactivating the manual call points prevents
alarms from being forwarded
Alarming does not take place
Mark deactivated or non-functional manual call
points with "Not in use"!

7.
Close the housing with the door. This activates the manual
call point.
