Please remember that
the
built
-
in deck and
record player
are
sensitive
electro
-
mechanical devices which
need
occasional
maintenance
.

Cleaning the
heads
, pinch
roller and
capstan
.
.
.
For continued
high performance
from the built - in deck
,
periodically
clean the heads , pinch roller and
capstan
whenever
an
accumulation of dust and red
-
brown oxide particles is
noticed
.
These
particles may
be removed with a
cotton swab
moistened with isopropyl alcohol
or special head
-
cleaning
fluid
.
To do this properly
,
depress the
STOP
/
EJECT button to
open
the cassette
compartment
.
Remove
any cassette
still in the
cassette
compartment
and switch
off
the unit
.
Carefully
rub the
face of each head with alcohol
.
Also clean the
surfaces of the
capstan
and
pinch roller
.

Cleaning the
stylus
..
.
Dust
particles
often build
up around the stylus
.
If the build
-
up
becomes excessive it
will
result in
noisy
sound reproduction
and will
eventually
shorten the lives of both the record and the
stylus
.
Should
this occur
, do not
remove
the dust with
your
fingers
or a tool
.
Lift the
tonearm by
its handle and blow the dust
away or use a stylus brush
.

Replacing the stylus
...
For distortion
-
free sound
reproduction
,
replace
the stylus after
1000
to 2000 LP plays
.
To
remove
the old
stylus
, pull the
stylus
down and then
forward
,
away from the tonearm
as
shown
in Fig
.

.
To install a new
stylus
,
insert the stylus
in it '
s
proper place
until
a
click is heard
.

Replacing the cartridge
...
Insert
a
small screwdriver
on
the front
retaining clip
and twist it
a little until
it releases the cartridge
assembly
.
Unplug the four
wires from
cartridge
.
Plug the four wires into the replacement
cartridge
.
Be
sure to
plug
the wires
( color
coded
) into
the
terminals as shown in
Fig
.

.
Place the
lip of the cartridge
(
located at the rear of the
cartridge )
in
the slot
in
the tonearm
and push the cartridge up until it clicks into
place
.

Cleaning the
unit ' s
exterior and visible metal
parts
...
Use a clean
,
soft cloth moistened with plain lukewarm water and
wrung dry
.
Never use benzol , benzine or other
strong
chemical
cleaners since these could
damage
the finish
of your
unit
.
It is
important that
no
liquid reaches the
inside of the built
-
in
deck
and record
player
.
