Operation and Installation Instructions
CERBERUS PYROTRONICS
Model MT-30
Municipal Tie Module
Operation
The CERBERUS PYROTRONICS
Municipal Tie module is designed to activate a local
energy type municipal fire alarm box. It meets the
requirements of NFPA Standard 72 for auxiliary
protective signaling systems. Actuation of the module
is from a suitable alarm output signal such as from a
type TS Two-Stage Module, or from the main control
panel. The MT-30 must be used with an LLM-1.
The module contains solid state circuitry to supply
supervisory and operating power to the municipal fire
alarm box. The circuit is a two-wire closed loop
carrying approximately l0mA DC of supervisory
current. Upon system operation the current is in-
creased, activating the tripping coil in the municipal
fire alarm box; which, in turn, transmits the coded
signal to fire headquarters.
The module, which has built-in surge protection, also
contains a manually operated disconnect switch to
de-energize the municipal tie line when desired or
during system tests. Operation of the switch will
illuminate the yellow LED Disconnect or Trouble
indicator. Trouble will also be indicated from an open
or a tripped municipal box operating coil, or an open
in the municipal tie line. All of these trouble condi-
tions will also operate the system trouble signal.
The LED can be lamp tested from the control panel.
Installation
1. Mount the module to the horizontal mounting
brackets in the control enclosure.
2. Install the Model JA-5 (5 inch long) bus connector
cable assembly between receptacle P2 of the
module and receptacle P1 of the module or control
panel immediately preceding it on the bus.
Note: If the preceding module is on another row in
the enclosure, a JA-24 (24 inch long) bus
connector cable assembly will be required.

3. Modules are to be bus-connected from right to left.
For two-row enclosures, the modules in the lower
row are to be connected from left to right. Suc-
ceeding rows are to be alternately connected, right
to left, left to right. etc.
4. If a module is the last module in the system, install
either a JS-30 (30 inch long) or JS-64 (64 inch
long) bus connector assembly from the unused
receptacle of the last module to terminal 41* of the
CP-35 control panel. This completes the module
supervision circuit.
5. Wire the terminals as shown in the Typical Wiring
illustration on the back of this sheet.
Troubleshooting
If a trouble condition is indicated in the MT-30, check
the following:
1. Be sure the disconnect switch is returned to
Normal position.
2. If the switch is in Normal position, check for open
in municipal box circuit lines, or box not reset after
a trip condition.
CAUTION
Module will be damaged unless connected to
proper municipal tie box.
Initial Installation: Until proper load is connected,
disconnect terminal 3 and, to maintain supervi-
sion when no load exists, connect resistor (50-
100 ohms) across terrninals 1 and 2.
