2-6. Auto Focus (AF) Adjustment

Place the VPL-CX20/CS20 1.75 ±0.1 m away from the screen (front projection).
Turn on the power to the VPL-CX20/CS20. Set Status to ON and Tilt to 0, and then enter the Factory Mode.
1) Tele End Adjustment
1. Press the Zoom "-" key and adjust the zoom position to the tele end.
2. Press the Focus key. Adjust the focus to the optimal position by looking at the OSD showing "FO-
CUS" in the center of the screen.
3. On "DeviceMENU", select "Other".
4. Select "39 AF/AF Adjust", and press once the right key on the main unit or the one on the remote
controller.
5. Confirm that the value of "39 AF/AF Adjust" changes from "1" to "0".
2) Wide End Adjustment
After completing the above adjustment, press the Zoom "+" key and adjust the zoom position to the wide
end.
Perform the above adjustment from steps 2 to 5.
3) AF Operation Check
1. Press the Zoom "-" key, and adjust the zoom position to the tele end to throw the image out of focus.
2. Press the Auto Focus key, and check that the focus is correctly adjusted.
3. Press the Zoom "+" key, and adjust the zoom position to the wide end to throw the image out of
focus.
4. Press the Auto Focus key, and check that the focus is correctly adjusted.

. Once the AF adjustment is completed, be sure to check the AF operation.
. Perform AF adjustment while projecting an actual image on the screen.
If the projection surface is not flat, or the image is projected on a wall other than a screen, the adjust-
ment may not be performed correctly.
