    WHAM_UA466ZL UA01466ZA_0 9/20/02 12:50 PM Page 6 Mounting the Drop-in Charger Mount the drop-in charger to either a bulk head or dash. Plug one end of the AC adapter into a wall outlet, or the DC adapter into a cigarette lighter socket, and the other end into the drop-in charger.

Open the cover. Connect the battery pack (BT-446) connector observing the correct polarity (black and red wires) to the jack inside the battery compartment.

Choose the best location for the POLARIS and the Control Unit. • Away from the vessels compass. • Away from metal objects that might interfere or obstruct the signal.

You can turn the WHAM Off by pressing and holding POWER/VOL for 2 seconds again. * If you are not able to turn the WHAM Off, press and hold POWER/VOL for more than 15 seconds.

(Please refer to the Owners Manual for the POLARIS). When the WHAM is turned On for the first time, the following screen appears.

Press the PTT switch on the microphone, hold the microphone approximately two inches away from your mouth, and speak clearly in a normal voice.

This feature will allow you to transmit a Distress call. In order to transmit a Distress call, press and hold DISTRESS for 5 seconds.
