If the ambient temperature or the internal temperature of the equipment has arisen too high, or if the equipment has developed a fault, stop using it, switch power off, and contact the nearest Toshiba service station. Do not open the case of the equipment while it is in operation except when setting the switches.
Chapter 1 Overview The optical shared hub unit UTNH series (called the optical shared hub unit in this manual) for the information and control network TC-net 100 constitutes TC-net 100 optical transmission lines. It employs an MT-RJ optical connector with 8 ports. The hub unit also has one port for the RJ-45 modular connector, which may be connected to a TC-net 100 (twisted pair) device.

Chapter 3 Setting 3.1 Switch Setting Set the mode and station address switches before switching on the optical shared hub unit UTNH23A for line A transmission line. These switches are located on the front panel of the UTNH23A. The switch setting procedures are as follows: 3.1.1 Station address setting switches (STN-H, STN-L) The UTNH23A has hexadecimal rotary switches to set station addresses, which...

For setting these switches, refer to Table 3-1 Station Address Setting and Table 3-2 Operation Mode Setting Table.. Set the following network parameters. •...
3.2 Network Parameter Setting 3.2.2 Station address setting Set a station address using the station address setting switches. Any station address may be set, provided that it is unique in the system. The range of station address setting is from 01h to FEh (1 to 254). If the IP address type [Tool Setting] is set, however, the network ID has priority over the value set with the station address setting switches.

Chapter 4 Installation and Wiring 4.1 Installation Caution • The working temperature range is as follows: • 0 to 55 4.1.1 Installing There are three ways of fastening the optical shared hub unit as shown in figure 4-1. (1) Back mounting Fasten two panel mounting L-brackets to the back of the optical shared hub unit with eight M3x6 screws on both sides, and fasten the unit to a rear support panel with four M4x6 screws.
4.1 Installation 4.1.2 Restrictions Observe the following restrictions on the installation of optical shared hub units. • The optical shared hub unit may be used by natural cooling. If it is installed in an enclosed cabinet, for example, install a fan or other means of cooling to prevent the inside temperature from rising too high.
4.2 TC-net 100 Cabling 4.2.2 Twisted-pair cable Connect twisted-pair cables to the modular connectors with RJ45 connector (TX-0, DUAL MENT). (1) Remove the dust cover from the modular connector to connect. Hook the top edge of the dust cover with a fingernail, and pull it out. Figure 4-5 Removing Dust Cover from Modular Connector (2) Insert a twisted-pair cable with RJ45 connector into the connector till it clicks.
Chapter 4 Installation and Wiring 4.3 Connecting AC Power Cable AC power (95 VAC to 250 VAC, 50/60 Hz) is received from an external source through the 3P inlet. (1) Insert the supplied AC power cable into the 3P inlet of the optical shared hub unit. Do not supply power in this process.
4.4 Unit Replacement 4.4 Unit Replacement Caution • Switch power off before replacing a unit. Replace a faulty unit, for example. (1) Switch the unit off. Check the PWR LED that power has been definitely switched off. (2) Disconnect the power cable from the unit to be replaced, first by pushing up the clamp on the cable, then pulling it out.
• If power cannot be switched on, or if any error has occurred, stop using the product and con- tact your nearest Toshiba service shop. • If you have any question, call your nearest Toshiba service shop. • Do not touch the radiator fins because they will be hot. Touching them could cause burns.
Table 2-1 Status Indicating LEDs. If the optical shared hub unit fails to start or operates abnormally, stop using it and contact your nearest Toshiba service shop. Note: Switch on the optical shared hub units before switching on the stations connected to the hub.
• Careless touch of the cables may strain them to possibly cause operation errors and acci- dents. • If power cannot be switched on, or if any error has occurred, stop using the product and con- tact your nearest Toshiba service shop. • If you have any question, call your nearest Toshiba service shop. 6F8C1406...
Check the wiring is as specified in the Information and Control network TC-net 100 Installation and Wiring Manual (as to bending radius, route, etc.) If anything wrong is found, contact your nearest Toshiba service shop.
If the status indicating LEDs (Table 2-1Status Indicating LEDs) show other than normal indications, or if anything wrong is detected at the human interface station, stop using the product and contact your nearest Toshiba service shop. For checking with the LEDs, refer to Table 6-1Check with LEDs.
6.3 Expendable Parts It is necessary to periodically replace expendable parts to keep the product in good, safe condition for a long period of time. Consult your nearest Toshiba service shop for advice on their replacement. Table 6-2 shows the expendable parts and their replacement periods.
