7. Hold the gun tip (electrode) (D) 10–12 in. (250–300
mm) from the grounded part and trigger the gun.
Operate the gun like an air spray gun, but use a
slower stroke to allow the electrostatics to work
effectively.
8. When the ES On/Off lever is turned on and you
trigger the gun, be sure there is a grounded work-
piece 10–12 in. (250–300 mm) in front of the gun.
WARNING
Never trigger the gun without a grounded work-
piece in front of the gun. If you body is the best
ground or if you are holding the gun too far from
the workpiece, the material will be attracted to and
cover you instead of the workpiece.
9. Use the gun air pressure regulator to adjust the
degree of atomization. Always use the lowest air
pressure possible for the most efficiency.
10. A minimum of 40 psi (280 kPa, 2.8 bar) air supply
is required to ensure full voltage from the power
supply. The gun may be operated at a lower hose
inlet air pressure, but you will lose some electro-
static wrap efficiency.
11. Use the fan pattern valve (C) to change the shape
of the spray pattern. See Fig. 12. When increasing
to a wide flat pattern, it may be necessary to
increase the supply of fluid to the gun to maintain
the same amount of coverage over a large area.

When using catalyzed fluids, observe the pot life as
recommended by the fluid manufacturer. Always
flush the system before the pot life has expired to
prevent dried fluid which may be difficult to clean out
and may damage the system.
VI.
When to shut down the system
Shut down the system at the end of the work shift and
before checking, adjusting, cleaning, or repairing the
system. Always follow the Pressure relief procedure
on page 9.
