Redundancy and system changes during operation

7.1

Redundancy

The basic configuration of redundant FF segments corresponds to the configuration for
PROFIBUS PA.
Configuration with active field distributors enables the following connections of the FF segment
to a redundant DP master system:
● Coupler redundancy with active field distributor (AFD)
A connection to a redundant DP master system on a SIMATIC S7-400H is required for
operation with coupler redundancy.
● Ring redundancy with active field splitter (AFS)
Connection to a redundant or single DP master system is possible for operation with ring
redundancy.
Assembling the bus link
● Ensure you use the correct type-specific bus module for the installation:
– Bus module for FF Link
– Bus module for Compact FF Link
● Possible redundant components on the FF segment:
Recommendation:
Connect the following module to the DP master system in the rack 0 of the SIMATIC S7-400H:
● The left IM 153-2 FF interface module of the bus link.
● The left Compact FF Link of the bus link.
