Modes

Performance Mode

PF will be displayed on the LED display screen when Vortex is in performance mode. In this mode, MIDI data can be
transmitted at any time from Vortex.
Loading Patches
A Vortex Wireless patch is a preset that you can load or edit.
When you load a patch, a program change message will be sent through the USB port and 5-pin MIDI Out port. See
the Editing Program Change Messages section to learn how to set this.
There are three patch banks to select from (A, B, and C) on Vortex Wireless.
1.
Press the Patch Select button to cycle through patch banks. The corresponding bank LED will be lit.
2.
Use the Trigger/Drum pads to select the patch to load. Alternately, you can quickly select the next or previous
patch by pressing Patch Select then immediately pressing Program Up or Program Down.
Patch Edit Mode
Editing Patches
Press the Patch Edit button to enter this mode. The three Patch Select LEDs will be lit when in this mode and PE will
be displayed on the screen. This mode lets you adjust MIDI message values. To exit Patch Edit mode and save all
adjustments, press the Patch Edit button again.
Vortex Wireless allows you to store and recall up to 23 different patches.
1.
Load the patch that you would like to edit.
2.
Press the Patch Edit button.
3.
Select a parameter to edit.
4.
Press the Enter key to save or press the Cancel key to revert your changes.
5.
Press the Patch Edit button to exit.
You can also use the Vyzex Vortex patch editor software to edit your patches.
Editing the Pads
Each individual pad can be in any of five modes:
Note: Sends a "note-on" and a "note-off" message.
CC Toggle: Sends a CC message with a first data value on the first press, and sends a CC message with a
second data value on the second press.
CC Momentary: Sends a CC message with a first data value on when the pad is pressed, and sends a CC
message with a second data value when the pad is released.
Program Change: Sends a program change message.
Panic Mode: Sends an "all-notes-off" message.
To set the mode of a pad:
1.
Press the Patch Edit button.
2.
Press the pad you want to edit. The LED display screen will display the name of the currently edited pad. For
example, Pd1 will be displayed when editing pad 1.
3.
Press the key labeled Mode Assign.
4.
Select the mode by using the numeric keys (1-5) or by pressing the Mode Assign button to cycle through the
available modes.
5.
Press the Enter key to save the changes or the Cancel key to revert to the original setting.
To edit the specific parameters of a pad:
1.
Press the Patch Edit button.
2.
Press the pad you want to edit. The LED display screen will display the name of the currently edited pad. For
example, Pd1 will be displayed when editing pad 1.
3.
Use the three knobs to change parameter values.
Note: After moving the corresponding knob, you can also use the numeric keys to enter a value.
4.
Press the Enter key to save the changes or the Cancel key to revert to the original settings.
