    PRECAUTIONS English To maintain good performance • Do not use the unit in places which are extremely hot, cold, dusty or humid. In particular, do not use or keep the unit in the following places. • in a high humidity area such as a bathroom •...
  • Page 5 English PRECAUTIONS Note on listening with the headphones • Listen at a moderate volume to avoid hearing damage. • Do not wear the headphones while driving or cycling. It may create a traffic hazard. • You should use extreme caution or temporarily discontinue use in potentially hazardous situations, such as walking, jogging, etc.

    CHARGING THE English RECHARGEABLE BATTERY When using the rechargeable battery for the first time, charge it until the CHARGE lamp turns off. 1 Insert the rechargeable battery with the 0 and 9 marks correctly aligned. Charging will not start if the battery is not inserted first.

    • Do not disassemble the battery, heat it or put it in water. • The supplied rechargeable battery can be recharged approximately 300 times. Using on dry-cell battery Use the 8B-HM3-953-11 dry-cell battery case (not supplied). On purchase and details, consult your nearest aiwa dealer.

    PREPARATIONS English Connecting the headphones → A Connect the supplied headphones to the remote control and connect the remote control to the \ jack of the main unit. a The remote control can be clipped on your clothing, etc. with this clip on the back of the remote control.

    BASIC OPERATION English 1 Load a disc with the label side a up and in the direction of the arrow b. Insert the disc completely until it clicks. 2 Press l/s. 3 Adjust the volume. To stop playback, press l/s. When playing the disc the next time, playback will start from that point.

The track number flashes for about 10 seconds. 2 While the track number is flashing, press i /k to have a desired title displayed.

    SENTENCE REPEAT English FUNCTION A phrase between blank sections longer than 0.5 seconds can be played back repeatedly. This function is recommended when listening to a disc for language practice. Set during stop mode MENU/ENTER 1 Press MENU/ENTER. 2 Press i/k to have “SENTENCE?” displayed.
