9 - FANS AND AIR DUCTS

9.1 Checks in the axial fans

● Before commissioning, check the blade rotation direction and
that the axis turns without strokes nor vibrations.
● Once running, check the operation conditions: pressures,
fl ows and consumptions.
● With electronic fans (standard), check that they adapt their
rotational speed based on the condensation or evaporation
pressure.
Note: Optionally these units can be supplied with two-speed
fans. Models 840 to 1200 do not comply with ErP regulation
(only for countries outside the European Union).

9.2 Checks in the EC plug-fans

● Before commissioning, check the blade rotation direction and
that the axis turns without strokes nor vibrations.
● Once running, check the operation conditions: pressures,
fl ows and consumptions.
● The coupling of characteristic curves of the fan and the room
is very important, so that the fl ows and pressures provided to
the duct network are as required.
● The variable-speed plug-fans, both supply and return, have a
fl ow control pressostat. This pressostat comes from the factory
adjusted to the indicated fl ow. However, the fl ow for diff erent
conditions can be readjusted on site from the pGD1 graphic
terminal (please refer to the CARRIERrtc control brochure).
Note: the access panel to the supply fan(s) is fi tted with hinges +
quarter-turn latches of stainless steel and triangular insert 8 mm.
● Closing mode:
First rotate 90º (anti-clockwise): closing brings
the latch to the locked position. The door
cannot be opened.

9.3. Checks in the centrifugal fans (optional)

If the unit is equipped with centrifugal fans for the supply and/
or return air:
● Before commissioning, check the blade rotation direction and
that the axis turns without strokes nor vibrations.
● Once running, check the operation conditions: pressures,
fl ows and consumptions.
● The overlapping of characteristic curves of the fan and the
room is very important, so that the fl ows and pressures
provided to the duct network are as required.
Note: The centrifugal supply fans do not comply with ErP
regulation (only for countries outside the European Union).
● Soft starter detail (optional):
The soft starter of the outlet fan extends the time to reach its
regular speed. This is mainly intended for installations with
fabric ducts however is always compulsory with motors with
an output of 15 kW and higher.
For motors up to 15 kW it is installed in the factory in the
relevant auxiliary or main electric panel (according to the
model). For larger motors it is installed next to the ventilation
group.
Motor output up to 15 kW
Motor greater than 15 kW
