VOICE PROCESSING MODULE (VPM)

I I M M P P O O R R T T A A N N T T N N O O T T E E : The VPMs used in this product appear
very similar to the VPMs in our previous CADENCE
product but they are not interchangeable. If the VPMs are
not labelled with the letters SEC they will not work in the
SVMi-8 product.
The VPM is used to:
Move the digital speech and fax information between

the SVMi-8 system and the phone system
Generate and detect DTMF

Record and play back speech

Without at least one VPM, the SVMi-8 will not work. Each
VPM has four channels. This means that for each VPM
installed, up to four simultaneous callers can be connected
to the SVMi-8.
The VPM is attached to the SBC by an edge connector. Each
SVMi-8 comes equipped with one VPM, but it can be
removed or replaced in the event of a problem or upgrade.
The SVMi-8 card can accommodate two of these VPM cards, allowing up to eight simultaneous callers.
The 4-port VPM connects to the SVMi-8 motherboard. When installed in the SVMi-8 it increases the number of
available ports from four to eight. The SVMi-8 card cannot be expanded beyond eight ports.
The VPM for the SVMi-8 is the 4 Voice VPM.

This add-on card provides four channels of voice, otherwise known as ports. It allows four simultaneous callers
to use the services of the SVMi-8. One or two of these cards may be added to the SVMi-8.
