Each procedure built into the HP-28S can be classified as an opera-
tion, a command, a function, or an analytic function.
• An
operation
is any procedure built into the calculator.
• A
command
is a programmable operation.
• A
function
is a command allowed in algebraics.
• An
analytic function
is a function for which the HP-28S provides a
derivative and inverse.
Built-in procedures are usually characterized by their highest capabil-
ity. For example, SWAP and IP are both commands, but we
characterize SWAP as a command and IP as a function. The following
table shows examples of each type.
