Clinging dirt
Adhesive dirt on paínted surfaces can be cleaned off as required with a cloth moistened
with water.
Uncoated or plástic surfaces may be cleaned only using a dry cotton cloth or one
moistened with a little water. Other cleaning agents can attack and tarnish the surface and
cause it to become porous.
Never use abrasives. Abrasives can scratch the surface and thus
have a negative effect on the protection of the parts.
Acetone, xylene or distillations containing nitro can harm the
microscope and thus may not be used.
13.5
Cleaning the specimen stage
Remove light-colored spots on the stage by rubbing with paraffin oil or acid-free Vaseline.
13.6
Cleaning glass surfaces
Remove dust on glass surfaces with a fine, dry and grease-free brush made from hair, by
blowing with a squeeze blower, or vacuum suction.
Carefully remove clinging dirt on glass surfaces with a clean cloth slightly moistened with
water. If the dirt still can not be removed, instead of water puré alcohol or chloroform can
be used.
