2.5 Document Reversing

2.5.1 Basic Operation

0006-2269
The machine turns over an original in either of 2 ways: turning it over from 1st side to 2nd
side or turning it over from 2nd side to 1st side. The mechanisms involved are identical, and
the discussions that follow are based on turning 1st side to 2nd side.
a. Pickup for the 1st Side
The machine uses the drive of the feed motor (M1) to rotate the read roller and the platen
roller for reading the 1st side. At the end of reading, the machine turns on the locking
solenoid (SL1) in response to the image leading edge signal OFF so that the delivery
reversing roller enters a lock state to discharge the original to the delivery slot.

b. Reversal/Feed 1
Whet the trailing edge of the original moves past the delivery reversal sensor (PI4), the
machine stops the feed motor (M1). Immediately thereafter, the machine starts to rotate the
feed motor in reverse to move the original as far as the registration roller; it then turns off
the locking solenoid (SL1) to release the delivery reversing roller.
