Quick Start Guide for Yoga 2 – Getting Started
Introduction:
The new Yoga with Windows 8.1 gives you
choices. Work in a Windows 8 interface or work
in the familiar Windows 7 desktop – most users
will switch back and forth as needed. Use it as a
laptop, or fold the screen back 360⁰ and use it
as a touch-screen tablet. Set it up like a tent.
Explore. Use a mouse or the touch pad, or work
from the touch screen.
Power On:
Push the power button on the right side near
the front. Yoga will launch in desktop mode.
Logging In to the Network:
The initial time a user logs in, the process may
differ slightly.
1. District Policy Notification- click (or
touch) OK.
2. Second Policy Notification – swipe up or
click the screen.
3. Other user – choose sign-in options.
4. Select the key on the far left.
5. Sign in with usual login and password.
6. The familiar Win7 Desktop opens
Toggling Between Desktop and Start
Screens:
1. To freely toggle between the Desktop
and the Start screen:
a. Press the Windows Key on the
keyboard.
b. Press the Windows button in the
fold of the Yoga.
c. Tap or click the Windows icon on
the screen.
2. Some apps work only in Desktop, so
starting some applications will
automatically switch to Desktop.
Desktop Screen:
The familiar District Applications Window holds
icons for the applications you are used to using.
Start an application by double clicking or by
tapping the icon.

Start Screen:

Begin typing on the Win8 Start Screen.
This initiates a search of the computer
and the Internet for the search term
you enter. Results open automatically.
Click or tap a tile to launch an App.
Swipe your finger up or click the down
arrow to display all Apps available on
the computer.
o Pin one of these apps to the
Start screen: Press and hold
and tap Pin to Start.
Setting Up Printers:
1. Begin in the Desktop.
2. Open District Applications/All.
3. Select Install Printers.
4. Select the printer from the list.
5. Select Connect.
Attaching Yoga to a Second Monitor:
1. Purchase a Mini-HDMI to VGA adapter.
2. Plug the adapter into the Yoga's HDMI
connection and the VGA cable that is
connected to the monitor.
3. The keystroke Windows Key/P displays
a menu that allows you to choose to
extend the screen, duplicate, etc.
