Without Water Hose Joint

ANTICAVITATION PLATE
When the water hose joint is not used,
stand the outboard in a suitable
container of fresh water.
1. Tilt down the outboard motor.
2. Wash the outside of the outboard
motor with clean, fresh water.
3. Remove the propeller (see page
72 ).
4. Stand the motor in a suitable
container of water. The water level
must be at least 100 mm (4 in)
above the anticavitation plate.
5. Start the engine and run slowly for
at least 5 minutes.

6. After flushing, stop the engine,
remove the water container, and
reinstall the propeller (see page
72 ).
7. Tilt up the outboard motor and
move the tilt lever to the TILT
position.
