Initial Device Configuration

When you first turn on your device, you are asked to set up a
few things. To complete setup, read and follow the
instructions on the screen. You can touch Skip on some
screens, while others require reading or other information
(touch Next). Touch Back to re-display the information. Some
screens display depending on the options you choose.
1. On the Welcome! screen, select a language from the
Select language pull down. If required, touch
Accessibility to change the accessibility settings, and
then touch Next.
2. Touch Next when the Activate device screen displays.
3. Use the Wi-Fi screen to configure a Wi-Fi connection, if
you plan to use the device with Wi-Fi. For more
information, refer to "Wi-Fi" on page 134.
4. On the Got Google? screen, touch Yes if you have an
account or touch No to display the next screen.
5. On the Make it Google screen, touch Get an account or
Not Now to display the next screen.
6. On the Google and your location screen, select the
appropriate check boxes, and then touch Next.
7. On the This phone belongs to... screen, enter your
name to personalize the phone, and then touch Done.
8. On the Samsung account screen, sign in to an existing
account, create a Samsung account, or touch Skip.
9. On the Dropbox screen, touch Disclaimer and read the
information. Create a Dropbox account, sign in to an
existing account, or touch Skip.
Important! If you skip setting up the free 50 GB Dropbox
account, your Dropbox account space is limited to
10 GB after initial configuration.
10. On the Learn about key features screen, touch each
item to learn more about the feature. Touch Next.
11. The Thank you! screen displays your Device name and
model code. Enter a new device name in this field if
you want to change the device name.
This information displays when you use Bluetooth,
Wi-Fi Direct, tethering, and other features.
12. Touch Finish.
The main Home screen displays.
