• Tapping the LendMe icon in the Media Bar.
NOTE: If you're enjoying a book sample or a book you've borrowed, you can purchase the book at any time.
Simply tap in the center of a page to open the Reading Tools, tap on the blue flag at the right end of the
page slider to open a page of extras, and then tap on the Buy button to purchase the book using your
Barnes & Noble account.
Once the LendMe application is running, you can search for books you can borrow either by title or by friend.
Pull down the menu at the top of the screen to select either:
• Books – displays a list of books you can borrow
• Friends – displays a list of friends who have books you can borrow
To search for a specific title or author, do this:
1. Tap in the search tool at the bottom of the screen.
The LendMe application opens an online keyboard where you can type book titles or author names.
2. Enter the title or author you want to search for. Tap the Search button to start the search.
3. In the list of results, tap on the book you want to borrow.

Keeping Your List of Lendable Books Private

To protect your privacy, by default your friends cannot see any books you own that are lendable. Your NOOK offers
two levels of privacy control over lendable books.
• By default, your entire list of lendable books is private. To let your friends see any of your lendable books, you
have to visit the Settings page of the LendMe application and check a checkbox, authorizing your friends to view
your lendable books.
• Once you have made your list of books visible to your friends, you have additional control to Show or Hide each
individual book.
To adjust your privacy settings for lendable books, do this:
1. In the Library, tap the LendMe icon in the Media Bar to launch the LendMe application.
2. In the LendMe application, tap the gear icon in the upper right corner to open the Settings screen.
3. Use the authorization checkbox to control whether or not your friends can see any of your books.
• To make any of your books visible to friends, tap the checkbox labeled I authorize my friends to see my
lendable books and leave the box checked.
• To make your entire list of books invisible to friends, leave this box unchecked.
4. If you have made your books visible, you can still hide individual books. Tap the Show/Hide toggle beside any
book title you wish to hide.
• If the toggle switch says Show, your friends can see the book in a list of lendable books.
• If the toggle switch says Hide, this book does not appear in the list of your lendable books.
