SONOLINE G40™ ultrasound system
Quick Scan Card: General/OB
Press the Power Switch on the upper left side of the keyboard. A blue light will indicate the power is on.

Getting Started

Note: The term select is used to describe the action of rotating the S S E E L L E E C C T T control (located lower left on control panel) to highlight the desired action and pressing
S S E E L L E E C C T T control to execute.

Beginning an Exam

To enter data for a new patient:
Press NEW PATIENT (F1).

Enter the patient name, ID, and other pertinent information using the keyboard.

Use TAB to move to next data field.

Use TRACKBALL and cursor to select OK.

If desired exam or transducer is not active, select correct Transducer or Exam from the drop down menus, press SET key.

Exams can also be selected using EXAM key (F5) on keyboard.

Selecting a Transducer
Change the Transducer by pressing the Transducer button (cycles between the two transducers).

Overall Gain/brightness
Depth
Focus
Zoom
Gain (to compensate for weak signals in specific areas) Adjust the positions of the DGC sliders
Steer 2D image (VF10-5)

Rotate or Flip Image R/L
To change image orientation from up/down or left to right:
Rotate SELECT knob to highlight U/D (Up/Down) flip or L/R Left/Right flip (control menu) Press SELECT knob to activate

Annotating an Image

Obtain an image, press Freeze.

Press the TEXT key.

Place text cursor where you would like the text to be displayed.

Type text.

For system software version 2.0
...do this:
Toggle the TxFreq (soft) key down
Press THI button
Rotate 2-D knob
Rotate DEPTH/ZOOM knob
Rotate Focus control to position, Push down to add foci
Press DEPTH/ZOOM knob to select and rotate to zoom
Press Steer/Angle. Rotate to steer image
Roll SELECT control to highlight SECTOR in the control menu and press
select control

  • Page 2 To Use Pre Programmed Text Press TEXT key. Toggle Library On (soft key menu) Rotate SELECT control to highlight desired text, press SELECT. To Move Text Bring cursor next to the desired text to be moved. Press SET key to highlight (text turns green). Use TRACKBALL to move position of text to desired area.
  • Page 3 Circumference Measurement with a Label Press Freeze. Press Caliper Key. Rotate SELECT control to highlight measurement from on screen menu, press SELECT control. Place first caliper, press SET key. Place second caliper, press SET key. To adjust a caliper location- re-activate caliper by pressing the UPDATE key. (green is active) Roll TRACKBALL to adjust ellipse shape, press SET key.

  • Page 5 Selecting Multiple Gestations Press CALIPER key. Roll TRACKBALL to top of Measurement menu to highlight B, C or D (default is singleton-A). In prompt box answer YES to multiple gestations question. Use TRACKBALL to select YES, press SET key. Measuring the Heart Rate with M- Mode Press M-Mode key and obtain M-Mode cursor.
