Dial-up access GPRS
(General Packet Radio Service)
GPRS is a new method for transmit-
ting data faster in the mobile net-
work. If you use GPRS and if the net-
work has sufficient capacity, you can
be connected to the Internet perma-
nently.
Some service providers do not yet
support this service.
EMS
(Enhanced Messaging Service)
Besides (formatted) texts, you can
also send
• pictures (bitmaps) up to max. 32 x
32 pixels (black and white),
• sounds,
• animations (sequence of 4 pic-
tures) 8 x 8 and 16 x 16 pixels
(black and white),
using the EMS.
The elements listed above can be
transmitted individually or together
in an SMS.
With EMS, pictures and sounds can
also be sent (e.g. as screensavers
and ringtones).
This can result in messages exceed-
ing the length of a single SMS. In this
case individual text messages are
concatenated to form a single mes-
sage.
