FIRMWARE UPGRADES

1. General information
MX6000i's internal firmware can be upgraded as follows:

Upgrades of the Front- and DVD-part will be rare. If required
at all, new ICs and new firmware files (for burning upgrade
CD-ROMs) will be made availabe via the usual repair
channels.
Upgrades of the StreamIOm Module will be released more
frequent. These upgrades start automatically when the set is
connected to the Internet.
Caution: When customers disconnect the set from the mains
supply while the upgrade is in progress, the
StreamIOm firmware can get damaged and (in
worst case) the whole set can become inoperative!
To reinstall the firmware launch the "Emergency
Recovery Mode", as described in section 3.4.
2. Check firmware versions
2.1. Front processor and 5DTC tray controller
To read out the firmware versions of the front processor and
5DTC tray controller proceed as follows:
• Hold <DISC 1> and <STANDBY-ON> depressed while
connecting the mains supply
• The set will enter the Service Test Program
• After a few seconds the display will show:

region (EU or US)
SET: 0.28
front processor firmware version
5DTC: 79
5DTC tray controller firmware version
• To exit the Service Test Program disconnect the mains
supply
2.2. DVD-Frontend, DVD-Backend, Version Matrix Code
To read out the firmware versions of the DVD-Frontend and
DVD-Backend and the Version Matrix Code of the set
proceed as follows:
• Power on the set and select source "DVD – DISC 1"
• Press <DISC 1> on the set to open tray 1
• Press "DISC MENU" on the Remote Control
• The OSD will show an information box like this:

2.3. StreamIOm module
To read out the firmware version of the StreamIOm module
proceed as follows:
• Hold <DISC 1> and <STANDBY-ON> depressed while
connecting the mains supply
• The set will enter the Service Test Program
• Press <INTERNET> on the Remote Control
• After a few seconds the display will show:
@INTERNET
00.13.0016
• To exit the Service Test Program disconnect the mains
supply
3. Apply firmware upgrades
3.1. DVD-Frontend
To upgrade the DVD-Frontend firmware via CD-ROM
proceed as follows:
• Burn the upgrade file(s) of the supplied zip-archive onto a
blank CD-ROM and finalize the disc
• Power on the set and select source "DVD – DISC 1"
• Insert the upgrade CD-ROM into tray 1 and close the tray
• The upgrade process will start automatically.
"DOWNLOAD DISC 1" is shown on the display.
• Wait for 2 minutes. Attention: Do not press any buttons or
unplug the set during that time. There's no explicit
information given when the upgrade has finished!
• Press <DISC 1> on the set to open tray 1 and remove the
upgrade CD-ROM
• Disconnect and reconnect the mains supply
• Check the DVD-Frontend firmware version, as described in
section 2.2.
3.2. DVD-Backend
To upgrade the DVD-Backend firmware via CD-ROM
proceed as follows:
• Burn the upgrade file(s) of the supplied zip-archive onto a
blank CD-ROM and finalize the disc
• Power on the set and select source "DVD – DISC 1"
• Insert the upgrade CD-ROM into tray 1 and close the tray
• The upgrade process will start automatically.
"DOWNLOAD DISC 1" is shown on the display.
• Wait for 5 minutes. Attention: Do not press any buttons or
unplug the set during that time. There's no explicit
information given when the upgrade has finished!
• Press <DISC 1> on the set to open tray 1 and remove the
upgrade CD-ROM
• Check the DVD-Backend firmware version, as described in
section 2.2.
• Configure the correct Version Matrix Code:
- Power off the unit and start it up again in DVD mode with
no disc inserted
- Wait until "No Disc" is shown on the display
- To set the Version Matrix Code press the following
button sequence on the Remote Control:
for /22S: <PLAY> <1> <5> <9> <2> <2> <2>
<0> <1> <0> <0> <0> <PLAY>
for /37:
<PLAY> <1> <5> <9> <1> <1> <1>
<0> <1> <0> <0> <0> <PLAY>
Remark: While entering above sequence "Not possible
now" is shown on the display. This message
can safely be ignored.
- Wait until the DVD reboots (screen gets black and shows
up again after some time). Reboot takes approx. 30
seconds.
- Check the Version Matrix Code, as described in section
2.2.
