The following illustration shows the location of the ETR cards in the z10 BC server.
Ordering ETR and PPS cables
You must supply the two MT-RJ cables to connect the z10 BC server to a Sysplex
Timer network. If you are planning to place this server in an STP-only Coordinated
Timing Network using NTP with pulse per second as the external time source, you
must also supply the coaxial cables that connect the z10 BC to the NTP server
providing the PPS signal. The following illustration shows where the ETR cards are
located in the z10 EC, z10 BC, z9 EC, and z9 BC servers. Note that the MT-RJ and
coaxial cables for ETR and PPS connections are both on the ETR cards for each
server. The following illustration shows where these two types of cables are
connected in the System z10 and System z9 servers.
