Select heavy gauge cookpots. Usuallyheavygaugecookpotswillnot change
shape when heated.

Use cook, p ots with flat, smooth bottoms. To determineif the cookpotisflat,
place the edge of a ruler on the bottom. Hold up to the light. No light should be
visiblebetweenthe edge of the ruler and the pan. Rejectany pans that do not
fit flushagainstruler'sedge.

Match the size of the cookpot to the size of the element. Cookpotshouldbe
the same size or slightly larger.
•
Do not use cookwerethat extends morethan 1 inchbeyondthe cookingarea.
•
Cookwarethatis smallerin diameterthan the cookingarea shouldnot be used.
Notonly canthiscausethe elementtorequiremoreenergy and time,butcan also
resultin spilloversburningontothe cookingarea resultingin a cleaningchore.

Do not use nonflat specialtyitemsthat are oversized, uneven or do not meet
propercookwarespecifications such as roundbottom wokswith dngs, griddles,
rippledbottomcanners,lobsterpots,largepressurecanners, etc. Largeutensils,
such as pressurecannersor oversizedskillets,shouldbe used onyon
conventionalcoil cartridgesif they do not meet this test.

Glass-ceramic,earthenware,heat proof glass or glazed cookpotsmay scratch
the glass-ceramiccooktopand therefore are not recommended.
