Troubleshooting

We recommend to check the following items before contacting a service
center.
Symptoms
The shutter does
not release.
Nothing is displayed
on the LCD panel.
The Autofocus does
not work.
AE lock function
does not operate.
The built-in flash
does not discharge
even if the flash is in
the popped-up
position.
The power zoom
system does not
function.
In rare cases, the camera may not operate correctly due to static electricity. This can
be remedied by taking the batteries out and putting them back in again. When the
mirror remains in the up position, take the batteries out and put them back in again.
Then, turn the power on, and turn the power off with pressing the shutter release
button. The mirror will retract. After the procedure is done, if the camera operates
correctly, it does not require any repairs.
Causes
The lens aperture ring setting is
other than the s position.
The main switch is OFF.
The low battery warning }
is blinking.
The batteries are installed
upside-down.
The mode dial is in the 8 or
no position.
The built-in flash is being
charged.
The subject is not within the AF
frame.
The subject is too close.
The focus mode is set to z or
k.
Hard-to-Autofocus subjects
AE lock is not available when
set to green operation mode, a
(Metered manual exposure)
mode or p (bulb) mode.
When 3 appears on the LCD
panel, the built-in flash does
not discharge in bright lighting
conditions.
The camera does not have the
power zoom function.
Remedies
Set the lens aperture ring to the

Install the batteries properly.

capture modes.
Wait until the flash is fully
