Alternative Ways to Access the PIX 501

You can access the CLI for administration using the console port on the PIX Firewall. To do so, you
must run a serial terminal emulator on a PC or workstation.
PC terminal adapter
(74-0495-01)
Follow these steps to connect a console for local administrative access:
Plug one end of the PC terminal adapter (74-0495-01) into a standard 9-pin PC serial port.
Step 1
Plug one end of the blue console cable (72-1259-01) into the PC terminal adapter.
Step 2
Plug the other end of the blue console cable into the Console port.

Configure the PC terminal emulation software or terminal for 9600 baud, 8 data bits, no
