DRIVING

Shifting

Change the shift position based on your driving needs.
Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)*
Park (P): Used for parking or starting/stopping
the engine. Press the brake pedal, then press the
release button to shift.
Reverse (R): Used for reversing.
Neutral (N): Used for idling.
Drive (D): Used for normal driving.
Drive (S): Used for better acceleration, increased
engine braking, or driving in hilly terrain.
Low (L): Used for stronger engine power and
braking when driving in hilly terrain.
NOTICE
When you change the shift lever from D to r and vice versa, come to a complete
stop and keep the brake pedal pressed. operating the shift lever before the vehicle
has come to a complete standstill can damage the transmission.
Do not operate the shift lever while pressing the accelerator pedal. You could
damage the transmission.

Manual Shift Mode (CVT)*
Use the paddle shifters to change sequentially between 1st and 7th speeds. Pull
the right-hand paddle to upshift. Pull the left-hand paddle to downshift.
Shift lever in (S): The transmission switches to
manual shift mode. The transmission will still
automatically shift to prevent over or under revving.
The transmission will automatically shift into 1
when you come to a stop. Cancel manual shift mode
by returning the shift lever to (D).
Shift lever in (D): Pull the upshift paddle to
temporarily engage manual shift mode. Manual shift
mode will automatically cancel if the system detects
you aren't actively shifting. or, you can cancel by
pulling and holding the upshift paddle.
Models with Driver Information Interface
Shift indicators: For best efficiency, upshift or
downshift when the arrow illuminates.
Manual Transmission*
Fully press the clutch pedal to operate the shift lever and change gears.
NOTICE
Do not shift to reverse (r) before the vehicle comes to a complete stop. This can
damage the transmission.
NOTICE
Before downshifting, make sure the engine will not go into the tachometer's red
zone. This can severely damage your engine.
