Thank you for choosing a Yamaha electric-acoustic guitar.
In order to make the most of the advanced features and performance provided
by your guitar, please read this manual carefully before using the instrument.
PRECAUTIONS
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE PROCEEDING
Please keep this manual in a safe and handy place for future reference.
WARNING
Always follow the basic precautions listed below to avoid the possibility of serious injury
or even death from electrical shock, short-circuiting, damages, fire or other hazards.
These precautions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Do not open
• This instrument contains no user-serviceable parts. Do not open the instrument or at-
tempt to disassemble or modify the internal components in any way. If it should appear
to be malfunctioning, discontinue use immediately and have it inspected by qualified
Yamaha service personnel.
Water warning
• Do not expose the instrument to rain, use it near water or in damp or wet conditions, place it on
any containers (such as vases, bottles, or glasses) containing liquids that might spill into any
openings. If any liquid such as water seeps into the instrument, turn off the power immediately
and have the instrument inspected by qualified Yamaha service personnel.
If you notice any abnormality
• When one of the following problems occur, immediately turn off the power and remove all bat-
teries from the instrument, then have the instrument inspected by Yamaha service personnel.
- It emits unusual smells or smoke.
- Some object has been dropped into the instrument.
- There is a sudden loss of sound during use of the instrument.
CAUTION
Always follow the basic precautions listed below to avoid the possibility of physical
injury to you or others, or damage to the instrument or other property. These precautions
include, but are not limited to, the following:
Connection
• Before connecting the instrument to other electronic components, turn off the power for all compo-
nents. Before turning the power on or off for all components, set all volume levels to minimum.
• Be sure to set the volumes of all components at their minimum levels and gradually raise
the volume controls while playing the instrument to set the desired listening level.
Location
• Do not place the instrument in an unstable position where it might accidentally fall over.
Handling caution
• Do not rest your weight on, or place heavy objects on the instrument, and do not use
excessive force on the buttons, switches or connectors.
• Do not use the instrument/device or headphones for a long period of time at a high or
uncomfortable volume level, since this can cause permanent hearing loss. If you experi-
ence any hearing loss or ringing in the ears, consult a physician.
* Yamaha cannot be held responsible for damage caused by improper use or modifi-
cations to the instrument, or data that is lost or destroyed.
* Information on the battery can be found in the section at the end of this sheet.
* Please read the instruction manual for the external audio device such as a guitar
amplifier, etc., prior to use.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
As battery power depletes the
lamps will flash alternately. Replace the batteries
as soon as possible.
* These lamps will be displayed only when a plug is inserted to the output jack or
the power of the tuner is turned ON.
q Press the release lever in the direction indicated
by the arrow
in the illustration in order to
unlock it, and then slide out the battery holder.
w Remove the old batteries from the battery
holder, and insert the two new size AA alkaline
batteries. Make sure that the poles on the bat-
teries are properly positioned as shown in the
diagram inside of the holder.
e Slide the battery holder back into the guitar
body and press firmly so that the battery holder
locks in place.

The built-in preamplifier is automatically turned ON when a guitar
cable is connected to the output jack.
q VOL Control
* Always set the volume to its minimum level when connecting or disconnect-
w TONE Control
Rotating the knob to the right simultaneously increases the level of both bass and
treble frequencies. Rotating to the left decreases those frequencies. Both frequen-
cies are flat at the knob's center position.
e Tuner Display
Displays tuner information.

Switches the tuner ON/OFF.
q Press and hold the TUNER switch until the
power ON.
w Tune the guitar string until the note name of the desired pitch appears in the display.
e The string is in tune when only the
r Press the TUNER switch again to switch the tuner power OFF. Also, if the note name is
not shown in the display for more than 1 minute, the power will automatically switch
OFF. (
* It may take a few seconds before the tuner can detect pitches after being
switched ON.
* The note name and
regular pitch changes. Gradually change the pitch and check when tuning.
* The tuner may not be able to detect notes rich with overtones or with very short sustain.
* Sound output is not muted when the tuner is being used.
