Insufficientdetergent. Youmay need to increaseamount of
detergentused if load is larger than normal, if soilsare oilyor
heavierthan average, if water levelis high or if water is Hard to

Water not hot enough for type of load, Be sure water heater is set to
deliver'hotwater at the washer at MOO-15001? (60°Cto 65°C).Do not
wash when other hot water needs—suchas dishwashingor family
baths—are heavy.
Poor or inferior detergent. Changeto phosphate detergent, if
possible.Follow these steps:
1. Use water conditioner,(such as Calgonbrand)
2. Pre-treat stains
3. Use hottest water possible
4. Use bleach where possible
5. Use pre-soak aids
6. Install water sqftener
Washer overloaded.'Clothescann& move freely to loosen and
remove Soilg causinggray appearance. Follow correct l~ading
procedures for sizeof load. ~
Improper soaking with insufficientdetergent. Usuallya W-minute
soak is sufficiefit.However,when usingextendedsoaks for heavily
soiledgarments you may need to uketwicethe recommended
amount of detergent.
Use of soap in hard water. Switchto a phosphate detergent, or
followsix steps describedabove.
Washingtoo long may result in increasedsoil deposition. Use
shorter wash times for smallerloads.

T-o restore grayed clothes, follow one of these procedures:
1. Put clothesin washer.Fill with HOT water, Check
Manufacturers' Care Labels to determineif hot wateris suitable
for garment. ,
@Add anon-precipitating type of water sdftener,such as Calgon
with phosphate—use21% times as much as you need for normal
water softening.
~ Do not use detergent or soap.
@Allow clothes to go through completecycle.
@Repeat, if necessary.
2. If you prefer to use the SoakSetting, seepage 8. Use the water
softener in place of soak agent or prewash detergent and allow
clothesto soak for about 20 minutes.
