Starting and Stopping the Engine
2. Press the button.
Stopping the Engine When Your
Vehicle is Moving
WARNING
Stopping the engine when your
vehicle is moving will result in a loss
of brake and steering assistance. The
steering will not lock, but higher effort will
be required. When the ignition is switched
off some electrical circuits, warning lamps
and indicators may also be off.
1.
Press and hold the button for a
moment, or press it three times within
two seconds.
2. Move the transmission selector lever
to neutral and use the brakes to bring
your vehicle to a safe stop.
3. When your vehicle has stopped, move
the transmission selector lever to park
and switch the ignition off.
Fast Restart
The fast restart feature allows you to
restart your vehicle within 10 seconds of
switching it off, even if a valid passive key
is not detected.
Within 10 seconds of switching your vehicle
off, press the brake pedal and press the
button. After 10 seconds have expired, you
can no longer start your vehicle if a valid
passive key is not detected.
Once your vehicle has started, it remains
running until you press the button, even if
a valid passive key has not been detected.
If you open and close a door while your
vehicle is running, the system searches for
a valid passive key. You cannot start your
vehicle if a valid passive key is not detected
within 10 seconds.
Escape/Kuga (CBS)
Manual Transmission
If the engine does not crank when the
clutch pedal has been fully depressed and
the button is pressed:
1.
Fully depress both the clutch and brake
pedals
2. Press the button until the engine has
started.
Note: Releasing the clutch pedal during
engine start will stop the engine cranking
and return to ignition on. A message will be
shown in the display.

STEERING WHEEL LOCK

WARNING
Always check that the steering is
unlocked before attempting to move
your vehicle.
Vehicles with Keyless Starting
Note: The steering wheel lock does not
engage when the ignition is on or if your
vehicle is moving.
Your vehicle has an electronically
controlled steering wheel lock. This
operates automatically.
The steering wheel lock engages after a
short period after you have parked your
vehicle and the passive key is outside of
your vehicle.
Unlocking the Steering Wheel
Vehicles with Automatic Transmission
Switch the ignition on or press the brake
pedal.
Vehicles with Manual Transmission
Switch the ignition on or press the clutch
pedal.
