Setting the Exposure for Shooting (j, k, l, m Modes)

j, k, l, m Modes

By rotating the mode dial, you can shoot pictures in the following four exposure
modes: j (Programmed auto), k (Shutter-priority auto), l (Aperture-priority auto),
and m (Manual).
Not only can you set the shutter speed and aperture value, you can also select a
variety of advanced settings, such as changing the ISO sensitivity and white balance
in the shooting menu (A81).

Even when the mode dial is set to M (user setting mode), you can shoot in j
(Programmed auto), k (Shutter-priority auto), l (Aperture-priority auto) or m
(Manual). The setting combinations (user settings) that are frequently used for
shooting can be saved in M (A108).

• The flash mode (A36) can be changed, and the self-timer (A39), focus mode (A40) and
exposure compensation (A43) settings can be adjusted.
