    Setting ASEM Properties ASEM uses the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) to configure and manage a Nortel Application Switch. The ASEM Properties screen is used to configure parameters used to communicate with a switch. These parameters include polling interval, time-out, and retry count. These parameters are set at any time before or after a device is opened.

    Opening a Switch ASEM provides two options for opening a switch for configuration and management. A switch can either be opened using SNMP versions 1 or 2, or SNMP version 3. The following sections explain how to open a switch through either of these methods.

    Any switch that was opened during past sessions appear as a folder in the left-hand tree control navigation pane. This folder is be labeled with the IP address or DNS name of the switch. Click on the desired folder to initiate a new connection to the switch.
