The DVD format is the most successful new
home entertainment format in history. With
digital picture and sound, the performance
of DVD is far superior to video tape or TV
broadcast. Equally endearing is the sheer
convenience of the format, with instant access to
different scenes and no rewind requirement as
with tape. Add in the bonus of director cuts and
interviews with actors and performers, and now
DVD-Audio, and it is easy to see why DVD is so
popular!
The T 534 employs an HDMI output. This new
technology allows a single cable connection to
the TV monitor and allows for higher resolution
pictures and audio to be sent in digital format
with a required copy protection protocol called
HDCP encryption.
DVD-Audio uses the high storage capacity of
DVD to provide ultra-high resolution audio
performance, and is fully supported by the
T 534. DVD-A is a flexible format that can
support up to 5 channels of uncompressed
audio, with up to 24 bit 192kHz resolution,
compared to CD's limit of 2 channels with only 16 bit
44.1kHz resolution. Unlike all other digital formats, DVD-
A can only be output as an analogue signal, due to Digital
Rights Management agreements required by the format.
Thus playback is via the 5.1 analogue outputs only.
Fontunately, NAD has a world renowned reputation
for engineering some of the finest sounding Digital-to-
Analogue stages in the Audio Industry. Unlike most DVD-A
players, the T 534 offers comprehensive bass management
facilities for both DVD-A and Dolby Digital programs.
Speaker size, distance, and level are all adjustable, and
since this is accomplished in the digital domain before
decoding, this architecture offers the lowest distortion and
best sonic performance possible from the DVD-A format.
Features
The T 534 is a very full-featured DVD player that offers a
wide range of facilities such as Multi-Angle*, Multi-Sound*,
Multi-Subtitle*, Frame, 100x Zoom, and Marker Search,
Smooth Scan, Slow Motion, and Repeat. All of these
facilities can be easily accessed with the supplied remote
control.
With three video connection options and four audio
connection options, complete compatibility with any
Home Theatre set-up is assured. Whether you simply
want to add DVD to your current TV, or desire a complete
digital surround sound experience, the T 534 is fully up
to the task. The T 534 supports the DTS Surround Sound
formats (external decoder required) as well as the always
present Dolby Surround formats – with decoded Dolby
Digital (5.1) output available. Thus even older analogue
ProLogic systems can be updated using the T 534 (5.1
Input required).
The High Definition Multimedia Interface output (HDMI)
with High Definition Contents Protection (HDCP) allows
direct transmission of HD video and audio in a pure digital
format. Standard 480i (480 lines interlaced picture) can
be 'upsampled' to resolutions as high as 1080i (1080 lines
interlaced picture) thanks to the Faroudja DCDi chip.
This allows you to make the most of the high resolution
capability of today's HD projectors and flat panel displays.
(The TV must be HDCP compatible to take advantage of
this advanced feature.)
Most popular disc formats are supported by the T 534,
including JPEG, as well as MP-3 and WMA (Windows
