If only a specified drum is near the end of its life, the LCD shows the Drum End Soon: X message. The X
indicates the drum unit colour that is near the end of its life. (BK =Black, C=Cyan, M=Magenta, Y=Yellow). We
recommend you keep Brother Original drum units ready for installation. Buy a new drum unit
DR-251CL-BK/DR-261CL-BK (for Black) or a DR-251CL-CMY/DR-261CL-CMY (for either C, M, Y colours)
and have it ready before you get a Replace Drums message. To replace the drum units, see Replacing the
drum units on page 121.

The four drum units have exceeded their rated life. Please replace each drum unit with a new one. We
recommend Brother Original drum units be installed at this time.
After replacement, reset each drum counter for each drum unit replaced by following the instructions included
with the new drum units.

indicates the drum unit colour that you must replace. (BK=Black, Y=Yellow, M=Magenta, C=Cyan).

Brother Original drum unit be installed at this time.
After replacement, reset the drum counter by following the instructions included with the new drum unit.
