Safety
G The list of safety precautions must be observed!
G Do not use this product in any way other than as described in the operating
instructions.
G Make sure the SBP 12 battery is securely attached to the screwdriver before
beginning work.
G Do not continue operating the screwdriver until the SBP 12 battery is fully discharged.
This may reduce the life of the battery cells.
G High temperatures increase the rate of battery self-discharge. Direct exposure to
the sun or other sources of heat should be avoided.
G The chuck begins to rotate when the electronic on/off switch Πis pressed. To pre-
vent battery discharge, ensure that the switch is not pressed during transport and/or
storage. The on/off switch Œ can be deactivated by setting the reversing switch
to the central position.
G Use only Hilti original parts and accessories ( SBC12H, SBC12M and SBC12C
chargers, SBP12 battery). This ensures optimum safety as these units have been
designed to operate as a system of coordinated components.
G High drilling and screwdriving performance, high battery capacity and long life can
be achieved only when the screwdriver is serviced correctly and insert tools are
kept clean and in good condition.

Initial operation

G Charge the SBP12 battery before beginning work. For best results, a new battery
should be left in the charger for approx. 24 hours for the initial charge. This allows
the battery cells to become balanced.
G For optimum performance, it is recommended that the screwdriver and battery are
at room temperature before work begins. Keep the screwdriver and battery warm
when working at low temperatures.

Environmental protection / recycling

The SBP12 battery contains 10 nickel-cadmium cells. You share reponsibility for pro-
tecting the environment by ensuring that used batteries are returned for recycling.
Important: Exhausted SBP12 nickel-cadmium batteries should not
be disposed of with household waste and should not be thrown in-
to a fire or into water.
Return the exhausted batteries to your local Hilti centre so that they can
be disposed of correctly.
