Note: During the new profile setup, you will have
the option to skip, sign-in, or create several types
of accounts for the new profile: a Google account,
a Samsung account, and a Dropbox account. You
will also be able to name the profile, which will be
specific for your NOOK profile. When prompted to
enter a NOOK account, enter the account name and
password for the primary profile, and tap Sign In.
Once signed in, you will be prompted to assign a
name to the device. Enter the name you would like the
device to display to the Wi-Fi network when in use by
the new profile.
Setting up a Child Profile
To set up a child profile, do this:
1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap the General tab > Users.
3. Tap the Add User icon (a silhouette with a plus
sign) that appears at the top of the screen, below
the "General" tab name.
4. Tap Restricted Profile. You will be prompted
to set up a screen lock if one is not yet set up.
The lock is required to prevent the child from
accessing any adult profiles.
5. Set up the PIN, gesture, or password you want.
Next you will then be presented with a list of
applications to enable or disable.
6. Select the applications, such as Music, that you
want to enable.
7. Tap the profile's placeholder name at the top of
the screen to call up a dialog box in which you
can assign the profile a real name.
8. After selecting the preferred applications, press
the back button on the bezel of your NOOK.
9. Click on the "New restricted profile" labeled
Not set up yet. Your NOOK takes you to the
profile being set up.

10. Once inside the new profile, open the NOOK
Shop apps, which will display the NOOK Sign-in
screen.
11. Sign in to the primary profile's NOOK account
with the account password. (Your NOOK will
automatically fill in the primary profile's email
address.)
12. Choose the "New Child Profile," tap Next, and
follow the prompts. You will need to enter the
name, age, and gender of the child, agree to the
terms of service, and tap Next. Or, if you have
already created a child profile on a NOOK HD or
NOOK HD+ for this user, select the child's name
from the list of existing profiles.
13. Select the type of content you want to allow for
this child, then tap Next.
14. Restart the device.
Note: After restarting the device, please sign
in to the primary profile and confirm that
the content preferences have been saved
for the new child profile. (See the section
Managing Parental Controls for a Child Profile
detailed instructions.)
Switching Between Profiles
To switch between profiles, do this:
1. Press the Power button on the right side of the
device until the screen goes dark.
2. Press the Power button again to wake the device
and turn on the lock screen.
3. At the top right corner will be a set of silhouettes
representing the profiles on the device.
4. Select a silhouette, and then swipe across the
screen or, if a security feature has been set up
for the profile, enter the profile's PIN, password,
or gesture.
