Burn-in A characteristic of Plasma Display Panels (PDPs) is that displaying the same image for a long time causes a part of the image to stay on the screen (this is called phosphor burn-in). Point defects PDPs use collections of fine pixels to display images. While there is no problem with more than 99.99% of these pixels, please understand that a very small number of pixels may not light or may light all the time. Setting up your TV • Use the stand designed for this TV. For details of how to attach the stand, refer to the stand users manual. • Ensure that the TV is installed on the wall by a skilled installer. Mounting the front speakers, and preparing the subwoofer Mounting the front speakers Mount the supplied the DD speakers on the left and right of the TV.
Preparing the subwoofer Either stand the subwoofer vertically or lay it down on its side, peel the paper from the supplied rubber feet, and stick the feet in the four corners on the surface to be used as the base. The rubber feet prevent slipping and resonance, and also protect the speaker cord.

Connections Connecting the front speakers and subwoofer Use the supplied speaker cords to connect the speakers to the speaker terminals at the back of the TV. Bundling speaker cords Use the supplied cord clamps to bundle the connected speaker cords together. • Peel the paper from the back of the cord clamp and attach it at the desired location. To ensure that the cord clamp is firmly attached, wait a few minutes before inserting the speaker cords into the clamp.
Connections Connecting the aerial and VCR • Aerial cable is not supplied. Use a good quality 75-ohm coaxial cable. • Read the manual that came with the VCR before connecting. If not connecting a VCR (see fig.A): Connect an aerial cable to the aerial socket on this receiver.

Your TV is in the standby mode. Press the # (Standby) button again to turn your TV on. • The JVC logo does not appear when your TV has been turned on once. In this case, use the “LANGUAGE” and “AUTO PROGRAM” functions to make the initial settings.

PICTURE SETTING Refer to “Using the TV’s menu” (see page 24) for details of displaying the menu. PICTURE MODE You can choose one of three PICTURE MODEs to adjust the picture settings automatically. BRIGHT: Heightens contrast and sharpness. STANDARD: Standardizes picture adjustment. SOFT: Softens contrast and sharpness.
PICTURE FEATURES Refer to “Using the TV’s menu” (see page 24) for details of displaying the menu. DIGITAL VNR The DIGITAL VNR function cuts down the amount of noise in the original picture. You can choose from the three DIGITAL VNR function settings of AUTO, MIN and MAX.

VIDEO SETTING Refer to “Using the TV’s menu” (see page 24) for details of displaying the menu. ID LIST You can have a name corresponding to the devices connected for each VIDEO terminal. Giving a name to a VIDEO terminal makes the VIDEO terminal number appear on the screen, together with the name.

2 Follow the operation description of a function you want to use and operate the function MOVE: This function changes a Programme number (PR) of a TV channel. This function registers a Channel name (ID) to a TV channel. INSERT: This function adds a new TV channel in the current Programme numbers (PR) list by using the CH/CC number.

INSTALL 4 Press the Number buttons to enter the remaining CH/CC number The TV shifts to registration mode. When the registration is completed, the picture of the TV channel appears on the screen. • The CH/CC number is a number indicating the broadcast frequency to the TV.
Changing the TELETEXT LANGUAGE setting After the AUTO PROGRAM function is completed, you can change the country you have already set by using the AUTO PROGRAM function. 1 Display the INSTALL menu When the EDIT menu is currently being displayed: Press the h (Information) to return to the INSTALL menu.
Additional preparation Connecting the external devices Connect the devices to the TV, paying attention to the following connection diagram. Before connecting anything: • Read the manuals provided with the devices. Depending on the devices, the connection method may differ from the figure.
Connecting devices to the OUT terminal The signals of the images and sound you are currently viewing with this TV are output through the OUT terminal. By connecting a VCR to the OUT terminal, you can record the currently shown image and sound to that VCR. To do this, connect the VCR and OUT terminal following the steps below.
CH/CC numbers When you want to use the INSERT function on page 35, find the CH/CC number corresponding to the Channel number of the TV channel from this table. CCIR: The CCIR channel numbers are the channel numbers used in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, etc. OIRT: The OIRT channel numbers are the channel numbers used in Eastern Europe, Russia, Vietnam, etc.
Troubleshooting If a problem arises while you are using the TV, please read this “Troubleshooting” well before you request having the TV repaired. You may be able to fix it easily by yourself. For example, if the AC plug is disconnected from the AC outlet, or the TV aerial has problems, you may think there is a problem with the TV itself.

Troubleshooting Other concerns • When the SLEEP TIMER function operates, the TV is automatically turned off. If the TV is turned off suddenly, try to press the # (Standby) button to turn on the TV once again. At this time, if the TV resumes a normal state, there is no problem.
